Moosomin’s Twinkle Tour on until December 10

The second annual Moosomin Twinkle Tour runs through December 10th.

The Twinkle Tour is an opportunity for people to vote for the best three Christmas light displays in Moosomin.

Rolna Pranke from RE / MAX Blue Chip Realty, the sponsor of the event, will reward the three winners with the best Christmas light displays with Moosomin Bucks.

First prize is $ 200 Moosomin Bucks, second prize is $ 150 Moosomin Bucks, and third prize is $ 100 Moosomin Bucks.

Pranke says she started the draw last year just because she thought it sounded like a fun thing.

“Last year was our first year, it just seemed like fun,” she said.

“I think everyone likes to go out and look at the Christmas lights, it just makes you smile. At the same time, the prices are Moosomin Bucks, so that local companies are also supported. ”

Pranke also says that she will hold a drawing for everyone who casts their votes.

In addition to the grand prizes, three people voting for three winners will have the chance to win one of three prizes of $ 50 in Moosomin dollars.

“We’re taking part in a drawing of $ 50 prizes among the people who vote. It encourages more people to get involved. Even if you do not live in the city, you can still do your tour, cast your vote and also have the chance to win. Then they can use the prize money for their Christmas shopping. ”

Pranke says she was happy with the response to last year’s Twinkle Tour, which saw 214 voters cast their heads over the best Christmas lights.

“In the first year when it was new I was very happy with this amount, of course I would like to see more, but I was happy with the result.”

She said she was very pleased with some of the reactions.

“Last year Sara from Long Term Care asked me to go around because they couldn’t take all of the residents to see all of the lights. From time to time they have done the Twinkle Tours on the Dial-A-Van beforehand, but last year she asked me to go around and see if we could take a video of the lights and Christmas displays and take it to long-term care they could watch . That was probably the most fun. It was a seven to eight minute video and they loved what I heard, ”says Pranke.

The top three winners of the best Christmas lights depend on how many votes each house receives.

“I get people to pick their top 3, whatever they say, it’s their number one, I give three points, their second selection I give two points, and their last I give one point.

“Regardless of the address of this house, you will receive this number of points. The one with the most points, first, second and third, and that’s how we choose the winners. ”

Pranke says the Twinkle Tour is a fun activity for families to take part in until Christmas.

“It’s fun, it doesn’t cost anything, and it’s probably something people already do – drive around and look at lights. Just grab a hot chocolate and take a tour and have fun with your family is just a fun family activity. ”

She hopes the Twinkle Tour will encourage people to decorate even more for Christmas.

“I saw people earlier this year and some of those who had the more prominent ads last year, I was glad to see they do it again this year or do more. It’s really good to see. ”
