Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame: Investors Realty’s Laura Hansen
Every year the Midwest Real Estate News inducts a new class into its Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame. Today we look at the busy career of Laura Hansen, Director of Property Management at Omaha, Nebraska, Investors Realty, Inc., who started in 2020.
Laura Hansen is Director of Property Management at Investors Realty, Inc. in Omaha. She has been a real estate manager at Investors Realty since 2012 and has overseen some of the company’s larger office functions including the Durham Building, Ford Motor Credit Building, Nebraska Crossing, and other notable real estate.
“I’ve always enjoyed solving problems,” says Hansen. “In this business I enjoy it on different levels with a great team and great customers.”
This problem-solving mindset has proven useful when facing the myriad of hurdles that keep popping up before property managers.
“Challenges enable us to analyze processes and improve the way we work. The cars driving through buildings, gas explosions and water pipe ruptures of my past pale in comparison to what has preoccupied our world lately, ”said Hansen. “The challenge that became 2020 made us all turn around in ways we weren’t prepared for. Kindness, positivity, and empathy were important for new reasons. The 2020 pandemic has become the most emotionally stressful challenge of my career, a feeling that is now familiar to many. “
In her role at Investors Realty, Hansen promotes strategic business development, manages customer relationships and leads the company’s continuous improvement efforts in real estate management. The secret of their success, Hansen said, was surrounding themselves with those who were ready and able to move forward.
“I am grateful that I am always surrounded by people who believed in me,” said Hansen. “The relationships I have built with those I work with and the clients we work for have been critical to my success. Hard work has never scared me. Our core values at Investors Realty align with mine: Accountability, gratitude, ethics, education and service with integrity are the reasons we are here and have contributed to our success. “
Prior to joining Investors Realty, Hansen worked in Washington DC and gained extensive experience in all aspects of property management. She grew up on a farm in Indiana and graduated from Ball State University with a degree in real estate management.
“Graduated from Ball State University with a degree in residential real estate management, I went to Washington, DC 15 years ago,” said Hansen. “At that time, I was managing residential and commercial properties on a regional level for seven years before moving to Omaha. I’ve been with Investors Realty, Inc. for eight years, focusing solely on the commercial side. “
Hansen relies on morning workouts to keep him healthy and family time with her husband and two sons to keep his feet on the ground. They love to travel, eat out, do theater, and spend time outdoors.
