Greenville-based commercial real estate firm to establish foothold in Wilmington
A Greenville-based commercial real estate company, The Overton Group, partners with local developers to create a business in Wilmington.
Wilmington-based development company Clarendon Properties and The Overton Group recently announced the partnership and the opening of a new commercial property office in the Wilmington market.
Troy Demers, a partner in the Overton Group, is about to move to the port city and will be the agent in charge of the new office. Demers will be a sponsor of Clarendon Properties and will work closely with Clarendon’s John Sandlin and Gale Wallace to build and grow the company’s business.
Demers will initially be based out of the Clarendon office at 107 Stokley Drive near Wrightsville Beach. Finally, Wallace said Overton and Clarendon plan to move to office space that the companies will share.
“We realized maybe two or three years ago that we really wanted to be in Wilmington,” said MIchael Overton, founder of the Overton Group.
He said COVID postponed their efforts last year, but eventually they were introduced to Sandlin and Wallace and found that the two wanted to work with a brokerage firm.
Additionally, Overton said, “Troy was looking for an opportunity to take on a stronger leadership role. That gave him the opportunity to start from scratch in a new market. “
According to a press release, the Overton Group is not only active in brokerage in the Wilmington area, but also as a member of the Realtors Commercial Alliance of Southeastern North Carolina (RCASENC).
Overton said in a press release: “With the strengths of our two organizations, I am optimistic that we will have a strong impact in the Wilmington area. With offices in Greenville and Wilmington and around these great cities, we are now truly a local company able to serve our clients for any part of the life of a property in a large geographic area. ”
Demers said working for The Overton Group “has proven to be a life changing experience for me and I hope to repeat that experience with everyone who joins our team.”
According to the press release, Clarendon Properties has been involved in developing hotels and dental / medical retail stores since its inception. Clarendon is currently entering the development of apartments and self-storage.
Speaking of the Overton Group, Sandlin said in the press release: “Our association will greatly improve Clarendon’s brokerage activities and integrate property management into our services. Our development experience is also enhanced through our association. They bring knowledge and systems that will only improve our ability to serve our customers. ”
