Fire tears through vacant West Side commercial building | Crime News

A vacant commercial building on the West Side at Hampshire Street suffered extensive damage on Sunday after an early morning fire tore it through. The fire also caused some fire damage to the adjacent structure.

Buffalo firefighters responded to a call at 407 Hampshire St., at the intersection of 19th and West Ferry Streets, just after 5:20 a.m. The three-alarm fire had started on the first floor, but fire investigators said there were severe blazes throughout the building that caused $350,000 in damage, including the roof.

Built in 1900, the 3,102-square-foot building consists of a pink frame building with a single-story black storefront, with white and blue siding adorning the front facade above and beside the windows. It has been owned by Jerry L. Robins since 2001.

The adjacent building at 405 Hampshire, which housed Lucky Mart, also suffered $80,000 in damage.

No one was injured and officials are investigating the cause.
