Espresso Shop to move to spacious corner location
In April, the Espresso Shop moves downtown to Fourth and Walnut, in the building that was formerly Fiedler’s Meat Market.
Espresso Shop owners Brandon Raby and Christine Henningsen emphasize the spirit of family ownership and community spirit in keeping with the Fiedlers. They look forward to serving customers on the outdoor patio this summer.
Inside, they’re renovating a large dining and entertainment space on the north side of the building that’s about the same size as the Espresso Shop’s dining area.
The new location will have much larger freezer, refrigeration and food prep areas, as well as a dedicated area for the coffee bean roasting facility, which will have an industrial decor, Raby said.
Raby, Henningsen, and their son Jack are working with friends and family to clean, restore and remodel the historic building. They uncovered a tin ceiling over the new dining room and found it in excellent condition.
They also update the utilities. Donnee’s Electric and Roberts and Sons Plumbing do most of the work.
They hope to hold their grand opening in April.
ReMax
In another downtown development, agency Re/Max installed a series of colorful new awnings on January 17 at the front of their historic building on the corner of Fifth and Dewey.

The building is owned by Koby and Carrie Rickertsen, who bought it on December 23. The building dates back to the late 19th century when it was one of North Platte’s first banks – McDonald State.
For many years the Oddfellows met upstairs in elaborate ceremonies. The building more recently housed the Farmer’s State Bank and American Mortgage.
It was also home to First State Bank before that bank moved to Willow and Rodeo Road.
The Rickertsens replaced the windows along the entire north and east sides of the building. New signs will be installed on the front, including a four-foot-tall ReMax balloon on the corner of the building. They also plan to renovate the facade of the neighboring building that they own. This is where The Vault escape room is located.
Condon’s Signs of North Platte supplied and installed the new awnings. Ricketson anticipates a lifespan of 20 years.
Upstairs, in the former Oddfellows meeting room, the Liga 308 Cornhole will be holding their games this winter.
