Stephen M. Janosik Jr., loving, generous man
Stephen M. Janosik Jr., 78, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, peacefully at Christiana Hospital Hospice in Newark with his husband of 49 1/2 years, Richard R. Snell, at his side due to complications from a fall Nov. 22, 2021.
He was born in New York City, NY, June 22, 1943, to the late Stephen M Janosik Sr., and Helen (Esposito) Janosik. He attended Rice Catholic High School in New York City and was employed for 17 years with Davis Polk & Wardwell as a Data Processing Manager. After moving to New Jersey, Steve eventually became a very successful realtor, working as a broker associate with REMAX of Princeton, NJ At the age of 50, Steve decided to go to night college to earn his associate degree at Monmouth University in New Jersey. Steve enjoyed purchasing, decorating, and eventually selling each of our personal homes for a total of nine homes. What a savings on painting! Steve enjoyed traveling, cooking, and also entertaining family and friends. He would host a summer gathering each year for 120 guests. Steve moved to Rehoboth Beach upon retiring from New Jersey and joined Joe Maggie Realty as a Broker Associate part-time. He was among the founders of Camp Rehoboth, which serves the LGBTQ community. Steve spent many hours of volunteering especially for the Sundance Festival each Labor Day Weekend. He was an usher at Saint Edmonds Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach and a Third Degree with the Knights of Columbus Star of the Sea Council 7297.
Steve and Rich were married July 11, 2013. Besides leaving behind his husband Richard, he also leaves behind his sister, Helen Clark of Lakewood, NJ; his brother, Larry Janosik of New Jersey; his brother-in-law, David H. Snell and his wife Kitty (Van Ausdall) Snell of Mt Airy, Md., his brother-in-law, Wayne Snell of Long Island, NY, his sister-in-law, Ginny (Snell) Turner of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephew, and great-grandnieces. Sadly, one nephew, JR Janosik predeceased him.
Steve will be remembered for his awesome sense of humor, contagious laugh, and being a kind, loving, generous man who will always be loved and missed. Steve is one “twin” Rich will never be able to forget.
Due to the recent increase in COVID-19, a funeral parlor service or church funeral cannot be held at this time. Donations in his honor may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Christiana Hospital Hospice.
