Real estate and real asset private funds gain

Using data collected by Pensions & Investments on year-to-date private fundraising as of March 21, the real assets category closed on five funds, raising $43.8 billion, a big jump from the two funds and $5.8 billion in the same time period a year . This year’s closings were led by the KKR Global Infrastructure Investors IV fund that raised $17 billion, followed by Stonepeak Infrastructure Investors IV’s $14 billion and DigitalBridge Partners II’s $8.3 billion. Real estate funds also saw a large increase this year with five funds that raised $17.4 billion compared with three funds and $4.2 billion over the same span in 2021.

Year-to-date, private equity funds raised $56.6 billion, 42% of the $133.8 billion raised so far in 2022. This fell from $64.6 billion during the same time frame in 2021 when it was about 74% of that period’s total.
