Mayor Joe Hogsett joined Downtown Indy, Inc., the Commercial Real Estate Alliance and other stakeholders on Wednesday to share information about projects in Downtown Indianapolis.
Hogsett shared his enthusiasm for projects like redeveloping the airport, adding downtown hotels, opening Bottle Works, and a $ 58 million housing estate that is reviving Indianapolis.
“This is real proof that development is still a priority for our city. And that Indianapolis keeps moving, unlike so many other urban areas that are almost at a point where they stop, “Hogsett said.
Gavin Thomas, vice president of development for Hendricks Commercial Properties, said the point is to highlight what makes Indianapolis unique when it comes to attracting residents to the city.
“We have a lot of industries and different industries that are here in Indianapolis. It doesn’t matter what you’re interested in, there is a path and a career path for you here in central Indiana, “said Thomas.” I think this is something we need to go home. And you know you combine that with affordability and opportunity to bring people here. “
Even as the pandemic continues, Indianapolis leaders said they would push development in hopes more people will be calling the city
At home.
