Park ready for a ‘Hometown Christmas’

PENDLETON — Hometown Christmas in Falls Park — a walk-through or drive-thru holiday light display — is almost ready to begin, with a tree lighting ceremony set for 6 pm Saturday, Nov. 12, at the park gazebo.
Participating families and businesses “make our beautiful Falls Park sparkle during the Christmas season,” said Jo Scott, a board member of Friends of Falls Park, which organizes the installation and related activities.
“Each of them come up with their display idea, then pay generously for the decorations and give of their time to see that their display is set up,” Scott said. “These folks have continued to provide this service each year. We encourage everyone to support these businesses, non-profit groups and civic organizations.”
The light displays will be turned on during the tree lighting and will remain on for the weekend; they will then be on from dusk to dawn daily from Dec. 1 through the first week of January.
During the tree lighting ceremony, there will be music and free hot chocolate.
Friends of Falls Park will also have free hot chocolate and other activities from 5 to 7 pm Saturday evenings, Dec. 3, 10 and 17.
