U-Haul truck drives into building in Grove, Okla.; Driver charged DWI

GROVE, Okla. – Monday afternoon just before 2:30 p.m. Emergency 911 operators were alerted to a crash at RE/MAX Realtors, 1623 S Main. Grove Police state in a press release, “The caller reported that a UHaul truck had ran into the REMax building and it was possibly on fire.”

Grove Police, Grove EMS and Grove Fire Dept responded to an emergency.

Upon arrival first responders observed a UHaul truck 75% into the building. Many witnessed a male subject crawling out from under the back of the truck. The driver was assessed for injuries by EMS.

The driver was identified as Cody Coughran, 47, of Grove. He refused EMS treatment.

“[Coughran] Arrested for Driving Under the Influence and Driving While Suspended. He was transported to Delaware County where he was booked into the jail.” – Grove Police

ReMax was closed at the time so there were no other injuries.

We talked to RE/MAX on Wednesday and Realtor Jeff Savage assured us they continue to be open regular office hours. It was an office that was destroyed in the crash and no one was in the building at the time.

Coughran is being held in the Delaware County jail on the following:

  • DUI: SECOND OFFENSE IN 10 YEARS
  • DRIVING WITH LICENSE CANCELED, SUSPENDED OR REVOKED
