Real Estate and Finance Veterans Launch Intellego Capital Partners, a Multifamily Investment Management Platform

NORWALK, Conn. – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Real estate and finance veterans Edward Lange, Darin Buchalter, and Stewart Whitman have teamed up to create Intellego Capital Partners, LLC, a private, multi-family investment management platform. Intellego will focus on the acquisition, repositioning and management of residential communities in the high-growth regions of the Southwest and Southeast of the United States

The founders of Intellego have decades of experience in multiple economic cycles. They create value for investors by providing residents with a great feeling of living and developing talent to achieve business goals. These executives have held executive and board mandates with industry-leading public and private real estate, advisory and investment banking institutions. The experience and relationships they have built throughout their respective careers enable them to execute Intellego’s investment strategy.

Most recently, Lange was CEO of MAXX Properties and previously CFO, COO and board member of BRE Properties (NYSE: BRE). He also served as an independent director on two publicly traded REITs. Buchalter is independently recognized as a strategic advisor to directors and executive teams of listed and privately held real estate companies, private equity funds and their advisors. Previously, he held management positions at Ankura Consulting Group, Navigant Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: NCI) and was a partner at Ernst & Young LLP. Whitman has served as an investment banker and adviser to executive teams of listed and privately held real estate companies and private equity funds. Most recently he was Managing Director of Société Générale and previously Managing Director of RBS and Credit Suisse.

“The demand and the need for high-quality living space for workers offer investors an excellent opportunity to create value,” said Lange. “The renovation and repositioning of class B residential communities serves the enormous customer base“ tenants as required ”and realizes the return potential embedded in these properties. Darin, Stew and I have been working together in this sector for 25 years, we know it well and we look forward to working together to create a permanent home for our residents, investors, employees and service partners. ”

The fundamentals for investing in apartment buildings are convincing. It is a defensive, resilient asset class with stable and growing demand, which is supported by longer-term generational changes in terms of rental propensity, rental duration and, necessarily, a growing national cohort of tenants. COVID-19 has accelerated these trends and created opportunities for well capitalized and experienced investors. Through data analysis and market relationships, Intellego will seek to identify attractive investments where it can use its execution skills to create value.

“Based on a proven investment thesis, we understand the importance of an exceptional service-oriented experience in order to attract and retain local residents,” said Buchalter. “By prioritizing talent and relationships – a key feature of our operating model – we aim to maximize value and generate attractive risk-adjusted returns on a consistent basis.”

Whitman added, “I couldn’t be more excited to start this company with two colleagues who share the same values, work ethic and vision. We have made the decision to recruit a highly skilled management team and work with critical operational partners. ”
