Garden report
Summer at the Garden of Giving is in full swing and many volunteers are needed to help harvest all of the vegetables. The hot and rainy summer produces a huge harvest of good nourishment for the garden of give.
Volunteers are needed, but you don’t have to make an appointment, just come between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday. Church youth groups, Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts, may have the opportunity to see how food is grown and help.
There are currently two board members open to help organize the running of The garden and there is a need for a retired senior or someone with administrative skills who does computer work and writing thank you letters and other office duties for around five hours a week.
The garden congratulates Izzy and Jackie on completing their Gold Awards program in which they work with plants and medicinal herbs.
Located at 2556 Rising Hill Drive on Route 715 in McMichaels, the garden is a recipient of a Lehigh Valley Health Network grant for nonprofits in the Monroe County Community.
Office space was provided through the kindness of At Your Service Realty in the ReMax building on Route 115 in Effort.

Community meal
Our Lady Queen of Peace Community’s Sunday dinners return for indoor dinner.
The first takes place on August 8th from 3pm to 4pm.
Moor hikes continue
The Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center in the Monroe County Conservation District offers weekly guided walks in Tannersville Bog Wednesdays through September 8.
The hikes start at 10 am and last 2½ hours. You will be guided by an environmental educator from the center who teaches people about the bog, a boreal bog, unique to the area, full of birdsong and interesting insectivorous plants.
The participants meet at the moor parking lot by 10 a.m. How to get there: Route 611, at the lights at Tannersville Inn turn onto Cherry Lane Road. The parking lot is 3 km to the right of Route 611.
There is a cost. Pre-registration is required. Masks must be worn throughout the hike. To pre-register, call the center at 570-629-3061, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. and some Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
