Beringer Capital, a Toronto-based private equity firm specializing in media, technology and marketing services, has acquired the Inman Group.
Beringer says it will provide “input” for the news agency’s daily strategy as well as investment capital. In a press release from Beringer, it is said that the company will invest “heavily” in additional growth opportunities in all areas of Inman.
Chief Executive Officer Josh Albertson will continue to lead the company and Brad Inman will retain an interest.
The company’s track record in the acquisition includes Adweek in 2016 before exiting ownership in 2020. In May, Beringer acquired the pay-per-performance company Perform[cb], founded by a commercial real estate investor from Sarasota. The private equity company usually tries to invest in medium-sized companies.
