RE/MAX Canada and CIBC Launch $100,000 Giveaway Contest

Canadians value home ownership for the security of life it offers and the investment opportunities it offers, but affordability of Canadian real estate continues to be a barrier to many hopeful homebuyers. According to a recent report by RE / MAX Canada, 42 percent of Canadians said the high cost of housing is preventing them from entering the market, and 48 percent shared concerns that they could afford a home in the next two years. That concern was significantly greater among young Canadians aged 18 to 34 years, of whom 71 percent shared this opinion.

Despite deteriorating affordability, home ownership has always been one of the best investments Canadians can make, and the desire to own a home remains strong among Millennials and Generation Z. To help these first-time buyers get a foot in the door, RE / MAX Canada and CIBC have partnered to provide the 100,000 reasons to postpone the competition To give away $ 100,000 to a lucky first time buyer in Ontario or Atlantic Canada.

The competition starts on September 3 and runs until September 23, 2021. Submissions can be made online at blog.remax.ca/firsthomecontest/. To qualify, participants must:

  • are legally resident in Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador or Prince Edward Island who have reached the age of majority in their province;
  • buy a home in the next 18 months;
  • work with a RE / MAX agent to buy their home;
  • Financing your mortgage with CIBC through a mobile mortgage advisor

Keep an eye out for the 100,000 Reasons To Move billboard truck, which has messages from hopeful homeowners about their unique reason for moving.
