Link Asset Management Limited (Link), the manager of Link Real Estate Investment Trust (Link REIT, Hong Kong Stock Code: 823), announced today (Thursday) that the ‘Tour de LINK’, a month-long cycling event in shopping malls, ended successfully on August 29th.
The event drew nearly 6,000 Hong Kong residents to take part in the “Five Minute Challenge” of the “Hong Kong Cycling Champ” competition. The total distance covered at the end of the Challenge was 7,324 km, which is equivalent to 1.27 round-trip journeys between Hong Kong and Tokyo.
The winner and first runner-up of the ‘Hong Kong Cycling Champ’ was from Oi Man Plaza and the second runner-up from TKO Spot. Lok Fu district collected the most kilometers of the six participating districts during the competition.
Link presented a folding bike and a medal to each of the six riders who had ridden the furthest in each district, as well as the Hong Kong Cycling Champ winner, first runner-up and second runner-up.
To honor the Lok Fu district for its distance record and with the mid-autumn festival around the corner, Link offered 1,000 sugar-reduced moon cakes through five charitable NGOs in the Lok Fu district on behalf of the district. The five welfare NGOs are the Ho Ping Neighborhood Center for Senior Citizens (sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen), the Kowloon City Baptist Church Neighborhood Elderly Center, the Lok Fu Residents’ Affairs Association, the HKSKH Wong Tai Sin District Elderly Community Center, and Hong Kong YWCA Lung Cheung Integrated Center of Social Service.
George Hongchoy, Link’s Chief Executive Officer, said: ‘We are delighted to see that the citizens of Hong Kong have actively participated in the’ Tour De LINK ‘to improve their personal health and wellbeing. Many of them asked their families and friends to take part in the challenge together. With the ‘Tour de LINK’ kicking off the ongoing Healthy Community program, we hope to encourage Hong Kong citizens to exercise regularly to strengthen their minds and bodies, and hope to connect people with a better future. ‘
