2nd Annual REMAX Coast & Country Charity Classic Golf Tournament for Katelyn’s Cause | Oregon Coastal Life
The 2nd Annual REMAX Coast & Country Charity Classic Golf Tournament for Katelyn’s Cause was a resounding success. 26 teams competed, broken into two (2) flights, for the coveted Championship Trophy. The winners of the 2nd Flight were: Chris Witt & Stacey Lukac, with a low gross score of 75. The winners of the 1st Flight, and overall Champions, were: Chris Clark & Lucas Vanderlip. Their team low gross score was 65.
At the conclusion of tournament play there was a tie for first place. To break the tie Chris Clark & Lucas Vanderlip squared off against the defending champion, Trey Wortman and his teammate Stan Mercer in a sudden death playoff. The playoff took 4 holes, alternating between holes #9 & #18 before a champion was determined when Chris Clark drained a birdie putt to seal the victory.
This annual event is a competitive golf tournament, drawing avid golfers from throughout the region, and most importantly, a fundraiser for the Katelyn’s Cause Foundation, an established and recognized 501 (c)(3) which raises money to purchase gifts that are hand- delivered each December to children with cancer receiving treatment at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Contributions to Katelyn’s Cause also enable gifts to be distributed over the entire year to patients battling cancer, sometimes even delivered the day the child is diagnosed.
This year’s event raised more than $14,000 for the Katelyn’s Cause Foundation.
Chris Wallace, co-founder of Katelyn’s Cause, said, “Katelyn would be proud and so joyful knowing how many smiles and rough days will be made a little easier.”
Sponsors for the golf tournament included: Lucky 7 Casino & Hotel a Partner Sponsor, The City of Brookings a Partner Sponsor, and The Gold Beach Rotary as a Partner Sponsor. Our Gift Bag Sponsor was Gold Beach Lumber & Cascade Homes.
