Tommy Toy Fund 2021 toy drives, drop-off sites
The Tommy Toy Fund, in partnership with United Way of Southeastern Connecticut, and its fundraising days are approaching, and many local first responders and local businesses are working hard to help thousands of children in Eastern Connecticut have a better holiday season.
Several events are planned:
• Connecticut State Police Troop D soldiers will be holding toy collections at Walmarts in Putnam and Brooklyn, Ocean State Job Lot in Brooklyn, and the Chaplin Fire House on Saturday and December 11th. All start at 9 a.m. and go until 3 p.m.
• The Plainfield Police Department is holding toy collections in all three Dollar General Stores in Plainfield on Saturday and December 11th. Both sessions take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Killingly Police will be holding toy collections from the Dollar General on Route 12 in Dayville on Saturday and December 11th. Both take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Atwood Hose Fire Company will be collecting toys from the Dollar General on Route 12 in Wauregan on Sunday and December 11th, 9 am-3pm, both days.
• Resident Connecticut State Police Force E soldiers will be holding a toy collection at Lisbon’s Walmart on Saturday and December 11th.
• The Outer Light Brewing Company in Groton is running a toy ride on December 11th from 11am to 7pm.
Here are some of the ongoing toy collecting events in the area:
• Foxwoods’ Stuff The Bus campaign runs until December 10th. Collection bins are located near the main garage entrance.
• Dixie Donuts in Norwichtown is collecting toys through December 13th. A rubbish bin was set up for handing in.
• Karns Automotive in Groton will collect toys until December 13th.

Would you like to volunteer?
REQUIREMENTS: Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, be able to direct traffic and / or customers, lift a minimum of 15 pounds, and stand full shift. Bilingual a plus.
VOLUNTEER DATES: The volunteer dates range from December 9th to 20th. The distribution dates for toys are December 15th and 16th.
