Apollo Commercial Real Estate Finance, Inc. Expands Board of Directors With Election of Pamela Carlton

NEW YORK, July 26, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Apollo Commercial Real Estate Finance, Inc. (the “Company” or “ARI”) (NYSE: ARI) today announced its board of directors (the “Board”) of. known the company has elected Pamela Carlton as independent director with effect from July 22, 2021. Ms. Carlton joins a recently expanded ARI board of directors after Carmencita Whonder was elected at the company’s annual meeting earlier this year. The election of Ms. Carlton brings the total number of directors to ten, of which six are independent directors. She will serve as a member of the Compensation Committee.

Ms. Carlton is the President of Springboard – Partners in Cross Cultural Leadership, LLC. After 22 years as an investment banker on Wall Street, Ms. Carlton founded Springboard, a strategy and consulting firm specializing in diversity, equity and inclusion. Prior to founding Springboard, Ms. Carlton retired as Managing Director and Associate Director of US Equity Research at JPMorgan Chase, after also serving as Director of US Equity Research for Chase Asset Management. Prior to JPMorgan Chase, Pamela was an investment banker at Morgan Stanley and co-director of US and Latin American equity research at Morgan Stanley. She began her career as a corporate attorney with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton. Ms. Carlton also serves on the board of directors of Evercore (NYSE: EVR), the board of directors of Columbia Threadneedle Investments (the mutual fund board of directors of Ameriprise), the board of directors of DR Bank and the board of directors of New York Presbyterian Hospital. She is a member of the Women’s Forum of New York. Ms. Carlton earned a BA from Williams College, a Magna Cum Laude graduate, was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, and was elected President of the Willams College Phi Beta Kappa Society. She also earned a JD from Yale Law School and an MBA from Yale School of Management.

Ms. Whonder is a policy director at the lobbying and law firm Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, LLP. She also founded OF WUNDER, a luxury size womenswear brand, and is the chief executive officer of Whonder Apparel Group, LLC. Ms. Whonder previously served as the chief of staff on the Senate Subcommittee on Housing, Transportation, and Community Development and the primary advisor to the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Development to US Senator Charles E. Schumer. During the 109th Congress she was the head of the Minority Staff of the Senate Subcommittee on Economic Policy. Ms. Whonder has also served as a leadership education consultant for the Gates Millennium Scholars Program / UNCF, an initiative of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
