Groundfloor’s New App Stairs Lets Real Estate Investors Get In For $1
With the Stairs app, investors can achieve an annualized return of 4-6 percent by investing in a secure fund pool, 600 times more than the average savings account of a traditional bank.
Consumer-first real estate investment firm Groundfloor has released a new app called Stairs designed to help anyone invest money in a property, the company announced this week.
The app is available for iOS and Android mobile platforms and underlines the other Democratization of real estate investments.
Stairs allows users to start with as little as $ 1 and “combines the best of traditional saving and investing,” according to a press release sent to Inman.
The company claims that by investing in a secure pool of funds, investors can get an annualized return of 4-6 percent, 600 times the average savings account at a traditional bank.
In the press release, Groundfloor CEO Brian Dally said his company’s app is an extension of the mission of opening up direct real estate investment to ordinary people.
“With the introduction of the Stairs app, we are taking another big step to rethink how everyone can save and invest better and take advantage of the advantages of investing in alternatives with the security of real estate-secured loans,” he said.
Stairs is connected to the users’ banks for direct exchange of money, which enables regular reinvestment as well as an option to round up change after transactions.
Stairs earns interest every day and is repaid every five days. Funds can be withdrawn from Stairs at any time without charge or penalty.
Groundfloor said the beta test of its app, with nearly 2,700 users, resulted in an investment of more than $ 4.5 million.
Groundfloor classifies itself as wealth tech and has been in business since 2013 as a vehicle that non-accredited investors can use to invest money in crowdsourced financing for residential rehabilitation projects new developments. Its growth was remarkable.
To date, Groundfloor has gained more than 100,000 registered users, exceeded $ 570 million in investment sales, and processed $ 1 billion in transactions, the company said.
