Visiting the hospital and knowing that you need medical attention is hard especially during the Christmas season. One new realtor in Alice is hoping to help Alice CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital patients feel warmer and a little more comfortable when they receive medical attention this Christmas season.
On Friday, Dec 16, Nancy Ramirez, realtor with ReMax Elite Town and Country, presented Richard Morin, president of CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Alice and Kleberg, and other hospital administration and staff with 59 blankets and 30 socks.
“I wanted to start a community give back program,” said Nancy Ramirez, realtor with ReMax Elite Town and Country.
Ramirez had a meeting with Richard Morin, president of CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Alice and Kleberg. Together, they discussed a blanket drive for about 30 Christmas Day patients.
Ramirez reached out to business partners in the community like the Alice Echo – News Journal, Saved by Grace, Action Sports and Awards, ZBeat and others.
“We appreciate it. It’s a wonderful gesture for our patients. We do have a lot of patients that come to us that don’t have a lot of means and we keep the doors open,” Morin said.
He explained that patients don’t always have the means they need and the hospital partners with the community to help patients throughout the year.
“I think this gesture is so appropriate because we give our patients blankets and socks but there’s nothing like those types of blankets to make you feel a little more comfortable. Ours are kind of thinner and they use one, two, three depending on how cold they are, but there’s nothing like a warm (and) nice blanket to make you feel more comfortable,” said Margot Rios, Chief Nursing Officer for the Alice CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital.
