Big Rapids Fall Festival set for Oct. 29
BIG RAPIDS — The Big Rapids Fall Festival is set to take place this Saturday with fun events panned for people of all ages.
Taking place in downtown Big Rapids from 11:30 am to 4 pm, an afternoon of games, bouncy houses, a Ferris wheel and trunk or treating is in store. This is the second year that REMAX Together is running the event.
“It’s a fun, free event for the community that we love putting on. It’s because of our sponsors. We get tons of sponsors to be able to put this on so it’s just really fun to have a free activity for everybody to do,” event coordinator Rachel Pritchard said.
There will be three food trucks available throughout the afternoon. The trunk or treat will begin at noon and end at 2 pm According to the Facebook event page, the line will start in front of the new Coldwell Banker building and wrap back around into the alley behind Kilwins.
From noon to 4 pm, inflatables, a rock wall and a Ferris Wheel will be available for kids to enjoy.
“I think the crowd favorite is usually trunk or treat,” Pritchard said. “Kids kind of go through and get more candy than they can ever expect. This year is a little different having a Ferris wheel and a lot more activities for people to do. So we’ll see how that is if that ends up being a crowd favorite this year.”
Prior to the festival, a parade is being organized by the Big Rapids Skate Park at Swede Hill Park. Beginning at 11 am the parade will start at the Big Rapids Middle School and end in the Fall Fest trunk or treat lot.
Another fun activity that may take place if there are enough people is the pet costume contest. If anyone is interested in being a part of the pet costume contest, they are encouraged to contact Kati Ross at facebook.com/katiross.realtor.
