Downtown Dallas had the biggest real estate headlines this week

Just because it’s holidays doesn’t mean the North Texas real estate market is taking time out.

A spate of new blueprints and property changes hit the headlines this week.

It is said that one of the tallest office skyscrapers in downtown Dallas will be renovated in 2022. The 49-story Energy Plaza on Bryan Street was built in the 1980s as the home for Arco Oil & Gas.

More recently, it has housed offices for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp and once for TXU Energy.

Now the more than 1 million square meter high-rise by the architect IM Pei and Partners is to be renovated in order to convert some of its vacant offices into apartments, planning documents that have been submitted to the state office.

Another downtown Dallas landmark is for sale.

The 50-story Trammell Crow Center has dominated the city’s skyline since it opened in the 1980s.

Two of the building’s original tenants – Chase Bank and the Petroleum Club – have announced that they will be relocating the tower to a new location in the main Hunt Consolidated building on Akard Street and Woodall Rodgers.

The office building binge in the Dallas-Fort Worth area continued to gain momentum with two new suburban buildings.

Developer Billingsley Co. has started construction on a five-story building that will mark the next phase in its International Business Park.

Property developer Billingsley Co. has broken ground for the newest office building in its 300-acre International Business Park near the northwest corner of the Dallas North Tollway and Bush Turnpike.

The five-story, 250,000 square meter office building was designed by architect GFF and is being built by general contractor Adolfson & Peterson.

To the west in North Fort Worth’s 27,000 acre AllianceTexas development, Hillwood is ready for a speculative office project.

The 135,000-square-foot Hillwood Commons II will be built near Interstate 35W in the Alliance Town Center.

GFF has also designed this with an opening set for the beginning of 2023.
