FEDA talks industry training courses | News, Sports, Jobs
FAIRMONT – The Fairmont Economic Development Authority met Monday night and approved their new board list and discussed updates on Whitetail Ridge and Iowa Lakes.
FEDA board members Mike Wubbena and Sara Gerhard received updated roles on the FEDA board. Gerhard became President of the FEDA Board of Directors and Wubbena became Vice President. Chantill Kahler-Royer remained secretary and treasurer.
Paul Determan from REMAX Total Realty gave an update on Whitetail Ridge. There are lots available for purchase and there have been some inquiries about different lots. The development is receiving attention, but so far the inquiries have not progressed. The FEDA board decided to keep the prices for these lots the same and to continue looking for ways to sell these lots.
Iowa Lakes Community College is currently working with the City of Fairmont to bring a variety of industry training courses to the Southern Minnesota Educational Campus. The training courses include an OSHA 10-hour industry, an OSHA 30-hour general industry, a PIT (forklift) train the trainer, and an ARC Flash.
The OSHA 10 Hour Industry would be an introductory safety class that explores standards and best practices for entry-level professionals. The OSHA 30-Hour General Industry is a training course that provides a comprehensive safety program for employees with supervisory duties. The program provides complete information on OSHA compliance issues, including an extensive list of potential hazards, safety procedures, and administrative responsibilities.
The PIT (Forklift) Train the Trainer is a training course designed to prepare participants to provide forklift training to employees in their organization, and to help keep records and standards compliance. ARC Flash is electrical safety and compliance training. All courses would be held at the SMEC if this were done.
The next FEDA meeting will take place on July 12th at 3:30 p.m.
