Gallatin Shalom Zone announces Tribute Award recipients | Community

The Gallatin Shalom Zone’s annual Tribute Awards were held virtually on July 19th. Three tribute awards were given:

The Leimenstoll / Martin Humanitarian Award was given to those who answered the call to serve during COVID-19. Named in honor of Cathie and Dwight Leimenstoll and Edd Lee and Frances Martin, this award recognizes character, strength, unwavering integrity and belief in the human spirit.

Chief Greg Miller of Sumner County Emergency Medical Services accepted the award on behalf of the many first responders, emergency medical services, medical personnel, police and firefighters who have done everything possible to serve our community since March 2020.

Miller said, “It’s hard to be in public safety – police, fire, or ambulance – without a measure of compassion. You can’t do this job if you don’t love people. That’s what we’re here for. “

The Hal Hooper Philanthropy Award was presented to Wil-Ro Inc. and its employees for their service to our community. The Philanthropy Award is designed to recognize the spirit of giving and generosity that Hal Hooper exemplified.

Caleb Heronimus, who accepted the award on behalf of Wil-Ro, said: “We all love to give back. We all buy into the community. We all buy into each other. At Wil-Ro we believe in a family mindset. So when you build a strong family support group, I think it’s easy to pass on to others all of the gifts and blessings that we have received as individuals and as a company. “

The Heritage Award was presented to Dewayne Scott, an executive writer / coach and assistant officer for the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. This award is given to one who embodies the spirit of Shalom – devotion to the community and the general goodwill of the community.

Scott said, “People are more important than things. The needs in the community here are abundant and the Shalom Zone enables you to take advantage of them. ”He added,“ You will become the greatest beneficiary when you help. There is a feeling you get when you give of yourself. “
