Habitat plans 156th home dedication Saturday

Garland County Habitat for Humanity will dedicate its 156th home at 11 am Saturday for Ruby Navarro and her two children at 128 Terryland Circle.

The home was part of the 2021 Heels to Hammers event. The sponsors of the 2021 Heels to Hammers were Window Mart, Lowe’s, Sam’s Club, First Security Bank, Relyance Bank, Southern Bancorp, Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort, National Park Medical Center, Express Employment, Karen Garcia, BKW Construction, Rave Grafix, LongHorn Steakhouse, Simmons Bank, ABI Insurance, Chick-fil-A, ECCI, The Hotel Hot Springs and Spa, Kollective Coffee + Tea and ReMax of Hot Springs Village.

Navarro was selected into the Habitat program and has been earning sweat equity hours by working on Habitat homes, helping in the ReStores and completing homeownership classes. By the time the home is complete, she will have worked 300 volunteer hours.

The future homeowners will be responsible for paying a zero-interest loan to Habitat for the purchase of this home upon its completion. Habitat homes in Hot Springs are currently sold to families for $75,000 to $95,000, depending on the number of bedrooms. The mortgage they pay will help fund future habitat homes.
