Hoops Highlights: Arkansas signee Barry Dunning Jr. leads McGill-Toolen past MGM

Arkansas signatory Barry Dunning Jr. had 28 points and eight rebounds on Saturday when McGill-Toolen ended the Remax of Orange Beach tip-off tournament with a 72:40 win over Mary G. Montgomery.

Myles Murphy followed with 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Bennett Russ finished with nine for the Yellow Jackets (2-1).

GUYS

Orange Beach 47, Bayshore Christian 44: Joey Robertson had 19 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals for the Makos. Trip Carter added 11 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Cottage Hill 70, Saraland 54: The Warriors finished the McGill-Toolen Tip-Off tournament 3-0. Tyler Thomas led with 21 points, eight rebounds, five assists, four blocks and three steals. Shadrick Toodle added 17 points and Trent Thomas had 12 points, five rebounds, seven assists, seven steals and three blocks. Cottage Hill (4-0) will play against UMS-Wright on Tuesday.

Gulf Shores 55, Elberta 46: Corban Goodrich had 13 points for the Dolphins, followed by Kade West with 11 and Ronnie Royal with 10.

Robertsdale 55, Satsuma 19: Tony Carmichael had 13 points, eight assists and six rebounds for the Bears. Glen Williams added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 steals. BJ Holley led the Gators when he was 12. Robertsdale (1-0) will travel to Elberta on Tuesday.

Faith Academy 68, Saraland 50: LJ Holifield scored 18 points and Jadyn Maize added 16 for the Rams.

GIRL

Davidson 73, Murphy 29: South Alabama signatory Kelsey Thompson scored 33 points for the Warriors (5-0). Reshaun Spencer and Christyle Mauldin each had 11.

Hoover 73, Sparkman 48: Aniya Hubbard was leading with 23 points. She was joined by two-digit Reniya Kelly (17), Kristen McMillan (13) and Alanah Pooler (13).

Daphne 48, Baker 38: La’Merrica Johnson had 11 points and five rebounds for the Trojans. Tiana Smith had nine points, five steals and five rebounds. The Trojans also took a win against McGill-Toolen (45-42) last week, while losing to Jackson (48-38).

Lee-Huntsville 37, Huntsville 33: Janiyah Silas led Lee (4-1) with 12 points and eight rebounds. Mikayla Ford followed with 10 points and seven steals.

Prattville Christian 75, Chilton County 18: Hannah Jones led the Panthers with 22 points and nine rebounds. Ella Jane Connell added 14 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. CoCo Thomas had 14 points and eight rebounds. PCA also beat Pell City 57-38. Connell led the Panthers with 15 points, seven assists and four rebounds.

Satsuma 31, Robertsdale 27: Chloe Tarver had 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Gators.

Sparkman 73, Buckhorn 30: Mya Cable led the way with 22 points and six rebounds. Abethany James had 17 points, five assists and six rebounds. The Senators also lost to Bob Jones 46-41. Kennedy Langham scored 13 points in that game.
