Jarden nabs MS operative for real estate unit

Jarden Australia has picked up Morgan Stanley executive director Nathan Thomas for his busy real estate investment banking team.

Thomas, who spent the past 11 years at Morgan Stanley, is understood to have agreed to join Jarden as a director and will report to the firm’s head of real estate Mitchell Schauer.

Thomas makes the move from Morgan Stanley’s real estate investing team, and fresh from helping stitch up a healthcare property deal with Centuria last week.

It comes as Jarden’s muscled in on the real estate investment banking market, advising Stockland on its Retirement Living business to EQT; raising equity for Ingenia to acquire Seachange; and helping Precinct Properties to establish its joint venture with GIC, in its first 18 months in the market.

The bankers are also involved in the tussle for AMP Capital Wholesale Office Fund, which is an emerging battle between Australian real estate heavyweights Dexus and Mirvac, as adviser to the fund’s trustee board.
