Jason Patin: Ridgecrest’s Right Hand Man, March 24th 1970 – February 4th, 2022 | Obituaries

Jason Patin of Ridgecrest, CA went on to his eternal reward on February 4th, 2022. His legacy began on March 24th, 1970 when he was born to David and Patricia Patin at Daniel Freeman hospital in Inglehood, CA. By 1977, the parents of three (Ian, Jason, and Trevor) had moved from Van Nuys, CA to Ridgecrest, CA in search of a small, homey town in which they could raise their growing children. It didn’t take long for Ridgecrest to embrace their new family, and before long, the Patins were knee-deep in little-league and had several close friends.

Growing up, Jason attended Pierce Elementary School (and later Theodore H. Faller Elementary School), he attended James Monroe Middle School, and Burroughs High School.

During his High School years, at a homecoming party in 1988, he met the love of his life—his Queen—Deidre Elise Robesky. They were married on May 28th, 1991—three years after they met. They wasted no time in starting their life together: on July 1st 1991, they welcomed their first son into the world, Christian Isaiah Patin. One year later, Jason moved his new family to the Los Angeles area to pursue a career in the film industry. During their time in Los Angeles, on November 30th, 1994, Jason and Deidre celebrated the birth of their second son, Bradly Davis Godmother. Jason and Deidre spent the next nearly 10 years building their life in Canyon Country, CA where they met and enjoyed the company of many wonderful friends, neighbors, and family, and were involved in little league sports programs with their two boys. Jason spent most of his career with Sony Pictures as a colorist, while dabbing in other entrepreneurial interests. He even produced a feature film, Rustin, in 2001.

In 2003, as the film industry began to change—and as life began to change, “J&D” saw an opportunity to pick up their family of four and go back to their roots temporarily in Ridgecrest to regroup. It didn’t take long for them to remember the warmness of their little desert stomping ground.

For the next nearly 20 years, Jason became involved in youth sports, doing everything from umpiring to coaching and sitting on the baseball board. In his typical entrepreneurial spirit, he, and Deidre—along with their business partners—bought or started several businesses, including Classic Pizza, Custom Maid, Sweet Stuff Candy Company, ReMax Real Estate Pros, house-flipping, and, most recently, Coldwell Banker Best Realty. He served as Planning Commissioner and City Councilman for the City of Ridgecrest; he sat on several advisory boards and committees dedicated to improving his community; he spent 7 years serving as the department head for Ridgecrest Parks and Recreation; and, with great pleasure, he served as “MC” at St. Ann’s Catholic Church for Sunday Mass and Daily Mass.

Overshadowing even his greatest business ventures was his love for his ever-growing family. On February 8th, 2010, Jason and Deidre were overwhelmed with surprise and joy at the birth of their first daughter, Elise Julianna Patin. One daughter not being surprised enough, she welcomed Charlee Rae Patin into the world on December 30th, 2011. The joy that Jason felt for his wife and four children was never in question—he loved them beyond measure.

Nothing written about Jason would be complete, of course, without expressing the most important thing in his life: far above his work, above friends and family, above all else, he loved God, his Almighty Father. A man of greater conviction and faith may never be discovered in a dozen lifetimes. He gave God the glory for every wonderful thing he had: for his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his family, his 6 godchildren, his friends, and his humble little desert community.

Jason is survived by his wife of thirty years, Deidre Patin; his parents Dave and Patty Patin; his children Christian (and Emily) Patin, Bradley (and Gloria) Patin, Elise Patin, and Charlee Patin; his grandchildren Genevieve, Alena, Mary, Madeline, Elias, and one on the way; his siblings Ian (and Mandy) Godmother, Trevor (and Monica) Godmother, Allison Robesky, Kenneth (and Bre) Robesky, William (and Sarah) Robesky, Sonia (and Brian) Woychio; mother-in-law, Sharon (and Steve) Oldfield, and countless dear nieces, nephews, godchildren, and cousins.

For anyone who would like to pay their respects to Jason, a funeral mass will be held as St. Ann’s Catholic Church on February 18th, 2022 at 12 Noon. Reception will follow at the Kerr McGee Center.

In addition, a viewing, Rosary, and Vigil will be held the evening prior on February 17th, also at St. Ann’s. The Viewing will be from 4-7PM, with a Rosary at 5PM and a Vigil to follow.
