John L. King, 76, of St. Joseph passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021.
John is preceded by his parents in death; Stepfather Byron Bledsoe; three sisters; and two brothers.
On March 15, 1945, John was born in St. Joseph to John Thomas King and Ollie Delores (Clark) King.
John graduated from Benton High School in St. Joseph to join the United States Air Force, where he was in communication with several distinguished units during the Vietnam War from August 7, 1962 to his honorable discharge on January 5, 1967 served.
In April 1973, John became a real estate agent / agent at Brannon Realty and in November 1975 opened King Realtors, which later became Century 21 King Realtors. From November 1981 to August 1983 he was a corporate broker / co-owner of ReMax Realtors. John was awarded Realtor Ameritus status by the St. Joseph Regional Association of Realtors on March 6, 2014 after 40 years of service.
In September 1983, John opened the King Appraisal Group, LLC and was a full-time real estate appraiser from then until his death. His client list spanned virtually every financial institution, but as a veteran he was most proud to be a Senior VA Panel Appraiser. The King Appraisal Group was a true family business with Joyce, Brian, Leah, and Jeff who had all worked there for a long time.
Our father would be disappointed if we didn’t mention the importance of our office manager Mary Brooks and reviewer Dustin Ham, as they have both become a family for all of us during this time and we will never be able to express our full expressiveness of gratitude towards you.
Family was most important to John and his work ethic was unparalleled. He is deeply missed by his family and close friends because of his integrity, honesty, love for family, and kindhearted nature.
On May 31, 1968, John Joyce married Kay Noble, the love of his life. They were deeply devoted to one another and blessed to be on a wonderful journey together for 53 years.
John is survived by his wife of the house; his children Brian King (Beth Ann) of Earth, Texas, Leah Sams (Richard) of Shawnee, Kansas, and Jeffrey King of St. Joseph; eight grandchildren, Jacob King (Sarah), Cooper King, Austin King (Shelby), Madison King (Christian), Mitchell King, Johnny Watts, Zack Egnew (Star), and Zoe Egnew; four great-grandchildren, Vivian Davis, Kaydence King, Penelope Davis and Caiden Tomlinson.
The family welcomes friends to the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 16, 2021. Funeral service Friday, December 17th, 11 a.m. in our chapel. He is buried in Dearborn cemetery. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
