The house was designed as a residential home, but Shin was able to divide it into a mixed commercial residential zone, meaning it could serve as a private residence, a foundation, or any other use. Over the years it has doubled as a function space for Christie’s, Gucci, Rolls-Royce, Fendi, and the United Nations.
Shen uses it primarily as a living art space: the gallery on the ground floor, filled with works by artists with whom Shin has worked personally, can be separated from the private rooms.
The new owners will of course redesign the house to their liking, says Shin. But she has put so much heart and soul into the building that she will not sell it “if it is not to the right person”.
The house is listed with Compass’ Howard Morrel and Leslie Hirsch for $ 34 million.
A cowboy retreat in the Colorado Mountains
When he retired in 1997 at only 39, Cabletron co-founder Robert Levine decided to build his dream home: a 30,000-square-foot mega-mansion in Edwards, Colorado, complete with an ice cream parlor, indoor and outdoor shooting ranges, and its own western town – all with a saloon, the sheriff’s office and the city jail.
Levine is now shuffling off, listing Casteel Creek for $ 42 million. The home sits on 250 acres on the edge of 2 million acres of national forest and has eight bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and six guest toilets. There are also two guest houses and a five-story facility, the Coyote Lodge, which offers a four-story climbing wall, an arcade room, a teppanyaki bar and an indoor pool, among other things.
“You never really have to leave the estate to have fun,” said Barbara Scrivens of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty, which shares the listing with Malia Nobrega, of the New York Post. “I don’t know any other place like it.”
The property was already on the market – for $ 78 million, reported Mansion Global, but this time Levine’s family decided to keep about 200 acres to themselves. It is “vacant land” that does not compromise the privacy of the main property, Scrivens told the outlet.

A garden grows under the High Line
The Lantern House, which stretches across the High Line, isn’t quite ready to open its doors, but it has just unveiled one of its most adorable facets: a “secret garden” next to the sculptural glass lobby that is the bulbous one by Heatherwick Studio designed condominium connects two towers.
The inner courtyard, designed by AD100 landscape artists Hollander Design, is the first green space to be developed as part of the High Line. Its maples, sweetbay magnolias and ferns contrast the heavy steel of the former railway line and look good in the shade – a necessity given the location.
