OFWs asked to invest in real estate

One of the sectors hardest hit by the pandemic is Filipino workers overseas, who have long been considered the country’s economic heroes. OFWs, estimated at 2,566 million, are responsible for remittances worth $ 20.38 billion in the first nine months of 2021, a vital lifeline in a developing country like the Philippines.

OFWs benefit from the expertise and experience of special guest speaker Marissa del Mar. While global travel restrictions have hampered long-planned homecoming events, OFWs are encouraged to focus their energies on one positive goal: achieving and maintaining financial health. Many are now learning that they can provide for their families – and contribute to the Filipino economy – even as they move from donor to saver and investor. OFWs now view real estate investments as the best way to achieve financial stability. Real estate developer Bria Homes is by their side as the company sponsors critical free webinars designed to help them gain financial literacy and secure their families’ futures. These highly informative lessons in financial planning include teaching SAWs to be more accountable and disciplined in keeping their medium- and long-term financial goals in mind. On November 20th, Bria Homes hosted the first of these webinars. The first episode, titled Kabayan, Why You Should Invest In Real Estate, enabled OFWs to draw on the expertise and experience of special guest speaker Marissa del Mar, Chair Emeritus and Chair of the Advisory Board of the National Real Estate Association and President of One. Filipino Worldwide partylist advocating OFW rights. Del Mar briefed attendees on what makes real estate a financially viable investment option and how to maximize such investments for the future. “I am honored to be part of Bria Homes’ historic webinar for our Kababayang OFWs,” said del Mar. “It was a defining moment for both attendees and me as I have both an imperative for service in the SAW sector as well as a deep passion for real estate investments. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my insights with our economic heroes so they can achieve the financial stability they deserve. ”Bria Homes then hosted the second webinar in partnership with AllBank on November 27th, attended by Vic Garcia, President and Executive Director of AllBank, attended as a guest speaker. Garcia taught the participating OFWs how to apply for home loans and facilitate home ownership procedures in the Philippines. These webinars can be viewed anytime on Bria’s official Facebook and YouTube. Bria Homes will continue to host webinars to encourage OFWs to invest in real estate and develop smarter buying habits by “shopping smart” for the holidays.
