Over Half a Million Dollars Raised in 2020 for Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida by Children’s Miracle Network Partners: SF STAT!: South Florida Hospital News

January 28, 2021 – It was a unique year for many partnerships in 2020. For the Golisano Children’s Hospital in Southwest Florida, it was the year in which it was announced that it would become a Kinderwunder network hospital. Despite a very challenging year of fundraising, our CMN (Children’s Miracle Network) partners raised over $ 560,000, often $ 1 each, to help patients and families in Golisano.

The partnership was more than just a financial partnership and involved substantial donations in kind. CMN partners reached out to their networks and suppliers and offered to help with resources to fight the pandemic, including pallets of much-needed supplies, personal protective equipment, masks, gloves and dozens of meals to feed entire layers of hospital workers. The Children’s Miracle Network partners in the SWFL shared all the resources they could help in the fight against COVID-19.

The Golisano Children’s Hospital would like to thank our participating CMN partners:

Costco, Kirkland Signature, Ace Hardware, Walmart & Sam’s Club, Publix, ReMax, Milchkönigin, WaWa, Love’s Travel Stops, Phi Mu Faternity, Panda Express, IHop, Marriott Vactions Worldwide, Marriott International and Coca Cola.

“The generosity of these partners has exceeded our expectations. Our Children’s Miracle Network partners shared all available resources to help not only the children of Golisano, but also all of our frontline heroes, as well as medical staff and patients across Lee Health. We are grateful for every act of kindness from this group of community leaders, and we would also like to thank all of their generous customers for their contributions. Every dollar makes a difference, ”said Chris Simoneau, Lee Health’s chief foundation and development officer.

Children’s hospitals in the US are dealing with the effects of COVID-19 and will be for the foreseeable future. Donations from our CMN partners were particularly useful in 2020. Funding and support were provided in a number of ways:

• • Round-up campaigns in the register

• • Donate when shopping online

• • Curbside collect donations

• • Donate with employee matching contributions

• • PPE Donations – For example, the Panda Cares Foundation donated 30,000 masks

• • IHop, Panda Express, Publix and Dairy Queen all helped feed 5,765 healthcare workers on separate days spanning multiple shifts

• • Toy and diaper drives

• • Candy and gift bags for reversed trick or treating

• • Christmas wrapping, gift bags and toys for the holidays

Every donation is used to provide state-of-the-art supplies near Golisano. Philanthropy plays a key role in advancing many of the programs at the SWFL’s Golisano Children’s Hospital.

“Thank you to all of these companies’ customers for thinking of the children in Golisano,” said Toni Primeaux, Development Director of Golisano Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network. “The biggest way you can continue to help is to donate if you see a CMN sign or sticker at any of these retailers. Your action helps local children in your community. “

Community support is more important than ever today. When CMN partners and their customers are committed to transforming children’s health, the future can be changed.
