Potential buyers left confused, upset with delayed condo project on 8th Line

Many have requested refunds for their $ 500 tickets to the VIP access event that was due to take place in Spring 2020

In the fall of 2019, developer Twin Regency and real estate agent Remax jointly sold VIP access cards for a condominium project on 8th Line and Yonge Street in Bradford, promoting one and two bedroom condominiums starting at $ 283,000.

It was planned to host the exclusive pre-sale event in spring 2020 for those who bought the $ 500 VIP tickets in the fall. But spring came and went and the event never happened. It’s now a year later and ticket holders and potential buyers are wondering about the status of the project.

The ticket issued by Twin Regency Bradford Condominiums indicated that the owner was eligible to attend a special opening event to review floor plans and have the opportunity to purchase a suite of condominiums before the sale opens to the general public .

The $ 500 from the sale of the ticket would then be deposited into a non-interest bearing escrow account and held until the buyer had a binding purchase and sale agreement for a suite. In this case, the money would be counted towards the buyer’s security deposit.

The purchase of the ticket does not entitle or guarantee that the buyer can purchase a particular unit, but only grants access to the special evening event. The ticket buyer also receives a five percent discount on the stated purchase price, a free locker, free parking, one year of free maintenance, development caps, free allocations and all discounts announced on the launch evening.

If the buyer was no longer interested in the purchase, they could write to Remax Hallmark BWG Realty Inc. to request a refund and receive their deposit back within seven days of receipt.

Real estate agent Anastasia Orlando bought three tickets to the event and had 12 customers buy tickets as well.

Orlando said she was disappointed and wanted answers on what was happening with the project. She knows she’s not the only one looking for answers, so she started a Facebook group for other ticket holders to keep each other informed about the situation.

Frank Rossi said he and his daughter both bought tickets in hopes of increasing their chances of buying one of the condos.

“Remax pulled out of this project with no explanation and we both wondered if this apartment would ever be built,” said Rossi, who added that both he and his daughter will be requesting a refund for the tickets.

“The lack of information from Twin Regency for VIP ticket holders has been a shame … there is no way to build this condo at the advertised prices,” said Rossi.

Lily Nooro and her fiance bought two tickets to the event in hopes of securing an apartment for their first home.

“We were very excited and everything seemed very legitimate in the beginning when Goddard Remax was involved,” Nooro said. But when Remax went out of business, things went downhill.

“It’s all very unhappy and sad as we were all excited to buy a unit,” said Nooro.

The Triumphant Group announced to BradfordToday that two newsletters were recently sent to all ticket holders thanking them for their patience with the Twin Regency project and that the project’s schedule has changed significantly due to the pandemic.

They are working on a new blueprint and display the date for the VIP ticket holders.

“In the beginning, we set out to build two buildings on 10 acres in Bradford. We remain committed to delivering one of the first and largest condominiums in town. Despite the hurdles of COVID-19, rest assured we are moving forward with Twin Regency “read part of one of the newsletters.

“Our team is working overtime to expedite planning with Bradford City planners. We remain firmly committed to this development, which not only represents a new milestone for our group. We are also confident that Twin Regency has an excellent opportunity in the market for those who are looking for a dream home. “

The group pointed out that ticket holders who no longer want to wait for the project to be presented can email [email protected] for a refund.

BradfordToday contacted Goddard Remax for comment but received no response.

When contacted, the City of Bradford West Gwillimbury states that they have no information on the status of the project. The project is still an active file under review and the developer has reached out to the planning department to set up a meeting.

“We hope this means more information will be available soon,” said Caleigh Clubine, the city’s community relations officer.

According to some members of the Facebook group, refunds have been given as long as ticket holders provide proof of purchase.

Others, like Orlando, are holding onto their tickets in the hope that the project will soon materialize.

“It’s a great project with a lot of potential,” said Orlando. “It’s a great opportunity for the city and for investors.”
