Real Estate Executive Killed in Hit-and-Run in Miami Beach

A property manager from the Detroit area was killed in a hit and run accident in Miami Beach over the weekend.

Kevin Baker, 38, succumbed to injuries sustained in an alleged hit-and-run, according to a post signed by his wife on his Instagram account. According to Crain’s, he was a director of the brokerage firm Landmark Commercial Real Estate Services LLC.

A Florida Highway Patrol lieutenant said the incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. on Saturday. A driver of a Yamasaki “scooter” – unidentified by police – was hit by a white Honda sedan on I-195 Julia Tuttle Causeway near Alton Road.

According to police, the limo driver escaped on foot after the incident. Meanwhile, the driver of the Yamasaki vehicle was ejected and taken to the Ryder Trauma Center, where the driver later died of his injuries. A criminal investigation is ongoing.

A biography on the Landmark website states that Baker sold more than $ 750 million in shopping malls and investment properties. Prior to that, he focused on tenant representation before co-founding the Landmark Investment Sales Team. He attended both Michigan State University and the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

“We already miss him and know that this loss is deeply felt by many,” wrote Hayra Baker on her husband’s Instagram.
