Real estate market remains hot across the state

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Finding a place to live is still very difficult due to the shortage of supply and low interest rates.

So most of the houses are still being sold well above price.

“That market price is kind of insane when you look back on 2018 and 2019 like it’s going really high now,” said Bahin Battarin, a prospective home buyer in Springfield.

“We only have a persistently small inventory with high buying demand, a collection of buyers looking for quality homes,” said Julie Horrigan, Real Estate Agent at ReMax Professional Associates.

Horrigan held an open house on Sunday at a West Springfield home that generated a lot of interest.

“We’ve definitely had a lot of traffic for demonstrations this past week,” she told 22News. “The open day is exciting, lots of people come through.”

If you want to buy a house, you have to decide quickly whether you want the house or not.

“Right now, I see my buyers make five offers before they have an accepted offer,” said Horrigan. She advises, “You have to be approachable and your agent has to respond to these pointers, so yes, it’s tough, it’s competitive.”

Even if it’s a seller’s market, Horrigan said, it’s still worth entering offers and going through the process. Work with a professional realtor you trust and get familiar with what you are ready to give away.

The Hampden County’s housing market is still a hot trend, and it’s heading in this direction in most places across the state.
