Southeast Texans placed on LNVA board

The governor has appointed a trio of Southeast Texans to the board of the Lower Neches Valley Authority (LNVA), according to a press release from Governor Abbott’s office.

Lonnie Grissom, Jr., Ivy Pate, and Jeanie Turk have all been named to the LNVA’s board of directors. The term of office ends on July 28, 2027. The LNVA has the duty to protect, control and use the waters of the River Neches and its tributaries, including storms and floods. It also authorizes the storage, control, conservation and distribution of storm and flood waters of the River Neches and its tributaries within and / or outside this area for irrigation, domestic, industrial and communal purposes, as well as for hydropower. The agency may also support and participate in an economic development program within the agency’s serviced areas aimed at strengthening the economic base and promoting the economic development of the state.

Lonnie Grissom Jr. of Woodville is the owner and president of Golden Pine, Inc. He is a past board member of the Texas Forestry Association and a past president of the Woodville Rotary Club. Grissom was officially a member of the Woodville Independent School District School Board. After graduating from Kirby High School, he joined the United States Army and was honorably discharged after 4 years of service.

Ivy pie of Beaumont was the regional vice president of the Christ Southeast Texas Health System until she retired last year. She is a past member of the American Hospital Association, the Texas Hospital Association, the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, and the Planned Giving Council of Houston. In addition, she is a past member of the Beaumont Rotary Club and the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce and is the 2015 Athena Leadership Award Recipient for Excellence in Leadership. Godfather received a Bachelor of Arts from Lamar University.

Jeanie Turk of Sour Lake is the owner and broker of two REMAX offices. She is a member of the Houston Association of Realtors, the Texas Association of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors, and the Graduate Realtor Institute. She is also a graduate of Leadership Southeast Texas and the current Chair of the Hardin County WCID # 1 Flood and Drainage Committee. Turk attended Louisiana State University and Lamar University.
