Thomas Smolich Obituary (1943 – 2022) – Chicago, IL

Thomas J. Smolich, 78, of Beach Park, IL passed away on April 3, 2022. Tom was born in Waukegan, IL on July 23, 1943 to the late August and Sylvia (nee Kirn) Smolich. Tom proudly served his country with the US Marine Corps, serving 2 tours in Vietnam, being honorably discharged on October 14, 1966. Tom began his career in the computer field working for several Fortune 500 companies. He also was a local broker for Remax real estate office in Waukegan. Tom was a lifetime member of Marine Corps League 801, a member of the NRA, a Range Officer at the Conservation Club of Kenosha County in Bristol, WI. He was a mentor to a younger generation taking great pride in teaching safe and proper marksmanship skills. Tom is survived by his wife, Linda, of 32 years, their Sheltie, Mattie; his two sons, William (Katherine), Phoenix, AZ and James Christopher, Clinton, WI; grandson, Matthew Thomas; family & friends, Nadia, Samy and Houssam Chabouh, sister, Nadine Brune, and nieces, Kristie and Shelley, daughters of his late sister, Mary Blackman. Tom was a man whose life reflected his values ​​and will be solely missed by his family, friends, Marine Corps brothers and everyone whose lives he impacted. Special thanks to Dr. Martha Twaddle and Dr. Ellen Humphrey for both their superb care and dedication. Per Tom’s request there will be no funeral service.
