The curling community has been an active place at all levels of the country this week; at local, provincial and national levels.

The Tim Hortons Olympic Trial ended in Saskatoon on Sunday.

When the final stone was fired, Jennifer Jones defeated Tracy Fleury 6-5 in an extra ending to win the women’s division, while the men’s division was won by Brad Gushue, who defeated Brad Jacobs 4-3.

Jones and Gushue will now represent Canada at the Olympic curling in Beijing

Gushue starts the competition on February 9th and Jones starts the game the next day.

Near home last night was another night at Brokerlink Insurance Gray Bruce Major Curling League.

Week 4 results will be posted on the REMAX Gray Bruce Realty sports page along with the current leaderboard.

And with a view to the future, 3 ice rinks are confirmed that will compete at the Port Elgin Chrysler 22 Ontario Tankard powered by Bruce Power.

John Epping, Glenn Howard and Pat Ferris occupied the first three places in the field of 8 teams.

The rest of the field is determined by 2 registrations that qualify from the CurlOn cash game at the Collingwood Curling Club from December 17th to 19th and 3 other teams that qualify from the Open Qualifier from January 7th to 9th at the Welland Curling Club.

The Port Elgin Chrysler 22 Ontario Tankard powered by Bruce Power takes place February 9-13 at The Plex in Port Elgin.

Also, see you tonight in Meaford when the knights face the temiscaming titans.

The Titans are in a 16 game winning streak so this is a BIG challenge for the Knights as the game time at the Meaford & St Vincent Community Center is set at 7:30 PM.
