Commercial Real Estate Hall of fame: EPR Properties’ Gwen Locher Johnson
Every year, Midwest Real Estate News inducts a new class into the Midwest Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame. Today we take a look at the busy career of Gwen Locher Johnson, vice president of asset management at EPR Properties in Kansas City, Missouri.
After an impressive career in real estate management, Gwen Locher Johnson has been committed to developing commercial real estate in Kansas City. She serves on numerous boards of directors and has served in various CRE and non-CRE organizations, always playing a leading role in improving the industry and organization.
As a two-time chairman of the ICSC Heartland States Idea Exchange, Locher Johnson has organized regional events where people from all sides of the CRE come together to share their knowledge, creativity and perspective. Her position on the KCADC Board of Directors has enabled her to apply a commercial real estate-centric perspective to some of the largest ongoing projects in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
Locher Johnson has also developed a penchant for mentoring young professionals in commercial real estate. Through formal programs like the Urban Land Institute’s Young Leaders Program, as well as casual relationships, she has helped shape countless people who now play a role in doing business across Kansas City and beyond.

In her 20 years of real estate experience, Locher Johnson has managed over 7 million square feet of real estate nationwide. Her previous clients include RED Development, INVESCO and PASSCO. She also managed the retail office portfolio for H&R Block and a $ 20 million commercial loan portfolio for US Bank. Locher Johnson also facilitated fundraising of more than $ 30 million for the University of Missouri.
In her spare time, Locher Johnson loves exploring all kinds of new cities with her husband. Recently they have had equally exciting and enlightening trips to places as diverse as Dubrovnik, Croatia and Bentonville, Arkansas.
