New Commercial Real Estate Survey Highlights The Critical Role Technology Plays In Post-Covid-19 Return-to-Work Strategies

NEW YORK and BRUSSELS and SINGAPORE, Apr. 1, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Proxyclick and CREtech today announced the results of a jointly sponsored global survey of business decision makers in the commercial real estate (CRE) industry. The survey was conducted by the two companies to gain a deeper understanding of how CRE experts view the real estate landscape after Covid-19. The survey highlighted the role technology plays in problem solving as CRE experts support their clients’ return strategies.

Commercial Real Estate (CRE) is one of the industries hardest hit by COVID-19 and is a huge success on all sides. Unsurprisingly, office space and return-to-work strategies are high on the list for commercial property owners, clients, and investors across the board. According to Cushman & Wakefield, global vacancy rates will increase by more than 43 percent in the second quarter of 2022 compared to pre-crisis levels (fourth quarter of 2019). The company even predicts the reversal of densification due to the need for social distancing.

Against this background, the following important findings from the Proxyclick CREtech survey are:

  • 85 percent of respondents think technology is important in planning their return to work. Almost 50 percent of the respondents say that they consider this to be “very important”.
  • 96 percent believe that uniform processes across these technologies are the key to successful personnel flow management.
  • 74 percent said that less than half of their properties are currently occupied by their tenants.
  • While 34 percent expect everyone to be back in their offices in the next 12 months, 38 percent of those surveyed expected all tenants to be back in 18 months.
  • 52 percent only feel “a little prepared” to offer their tenants and employees a safe and healthy environment

“There is no doubt that many technology providers serving the CRE industry often make more promises than they can deliver, so when planning your return strategies, it is important to choose proven solutions like Proxyclick as reflected in these survey results address raised concerns, “said Gregory Blondeau, CEO, Proxyclick. “While some new or generic products may attempt to capitalize on the wave of demand for COVID-19, seasoned visitor management brands like us have been developing solutions for years.”

“Well before 2020 and the COVID-19 crisis, technology innovators like Proxyclick were delivering products to companies that valued people flow solutions,” he said Michael Beckerman, CEO of CREtech. “As our survey results clearly show, the value of these tools has multiplied even further as companies plan to bring their employees back into offices, and CRE leadership is taking note.”
