Potential Bradford condo buyers left in the dark about refunds, project status

It has been almost two years since potential buyers bought $ 500 tickets to a VIP access event that would give them first stakes in the new condos to be built on the 8th line in Bradford.

But now the developer and real estate agent involved have become MIA, leaving residents out of their pockets and frustrated.

The plan was to host the exclusive presale event in spring 2020 for those who bought the $ 500 VIP tickets in the fall. But spring came and went, and the event never happened.

The ticket issued by Twin Regency Bradford Condominiums indicated that the owner was eligible to attend a special opening event to review floor plans and have the opportunity to purchase a condo before the sale opens to the general public .

The purchase of the ticket does not entitle or guarantee that the buyer can purchase a particular unit, but only allows access to the special evening event. The ticket buyer also receives a five percent discount on the stated purchase price, a free locker, free parking, one year of free maintenance, development caps, free tasks and all discounts announced on the launch evening.

If the buyer was no longer interested in buying, they could write to Remax Hallmark BWG Realty Inc. to request a refund and get their deposit back within seven days of receipt.

The $ 500 from ticket sales would then be deposited into a non-interest bearing escrow account and held until the buyer signs a binding purchase and sale agreement for a suite. In this case, the money would be deducted from the buyer’s deposit.

It was later announced that Remax had withdrawn from the project. BradfordToday contacted Goddard Remax in April for comment but received no response.

In April 2021, developer Twin Regency BradfordToday announced that the project had been put on hold as a new blueprint and launch date for the VIP event were in progress, but ticket buyers were eligible for a refund upon request.

A married couple, who wish to remain anonymous, said they bought a ticket in December 2019, excited about the first condo development in Bradford.

“We have waited almost two years for Twin Regency development to begin, with frequent updates from Triumphant Group saying the project is moving forward,” they told BradfordToday.

The couple recently reached out to the developer asking for a refund, only to receive a bounce-back email rather than a phone response.

“Now that they don’t respond to my refund request, I feel cheated and misled,” they said. “I also feel helpless because I’ve exhausted all opportunities to get in touch with them without reaction.”

Many others on the Bradford Condos VIP Ticket Holders Facebook group reported similar complaints. Some say they haven’t received a response to their requested refunds.

The Home Building Inspectorate says they are aware of the matter and are dealing with it.

BradfordToday asked Triumphant Group for comment and inquired about the current status of the project, but did not receive a timely response for publication.
