SBM launches new 40-tonne-class mobile crushers
The Austrian SBM Mineral Processing has officially presented its new crusher Jawmax 400/450 and the newly introduced impact crusher Remax 450, thereby expanding its range of tracked mobile crushers to ten standard models with operating weights between 30 tons and 60 tons.
The common feature of the two new 450s is a high-performance pre-screening unit that reduces crusher wear and improves the quality and performance of the crushing result. This new circular double-deck vibrating pre-screen is directly connected to the vibrating chute in the feed hopper, while a triple flap on the screen pass discharges two fractions wholly or partially as fine grain or the or end product as a crusher bypass.
Compared to the double-decker grizzly feeders of the ‘400’ models from SBM, the pre-screen increases the hourly output by around 50 tonnes to a maximum of 450 tonnes / h, which means that both the 49.2-tonne Remax 450 with a position of 1,300 mm impact crusher and optional secondary sieve and the compact Jawmax 450 at the top of their respective performance classes.
Like all mobile crushers from SBM, both models have a hybrid diesel-electric / fully electric drive with an optional mains connection. The drive unit consists of an EU Stage V-compliant 6.7 liter Cummins diesel (170kW at 1,500 rpm) and a 200kVa on-board generator that controls all electrical drives (feeders, sieves, conveyor belts, etc.) actuating hydraulics for the Lift cylinders and caterpillars.
According to SBM, the Jawmax 450 in particular with its independent pre-screen sets new standards in terms of economy and practicality. A 110kW electric motor drives the new STE 110-70 jaw crusher via a V-belt, which was specially developed by SBM for mobile use.
As one of the largest crushers in the 40-tonne size class, the machine’s 14.35-tonne jaw crusher unit has an inlet opening of 1,100 mm x 700 mm, accepts a nominal feed size of 0–700 mm, and a maximum lump size of 1,000 mm x 600 mm x 600 mm and can process rock strengths of up to 400 MPa, which enables a wide range of applications.
With a 34 mm stroke, fully automatically monitored gap adjustment from 40–160 mm – adjustable under load – and optional overload protection, the JAWMAX 450 is designed to ensure a continuously high production output of high-quality end units.
The diesel-electric / fully electric hybrid system of the machine consumes 15–20 liters of diesel / h in normal operation and well below 30 liters / h at peak loads. With the optional network connection, the direct energy costs are reduced by up to 60% compared to other diesel-hydraulic mobile systems of similar performance and by around 30% compared to the use of the machine’s own on-board diesel engine.
The Jawmax 450 is also optimized for transportability, with a transport weight of 39.2 tons and transport dimensions 14.71m (length) x 2.88m (width) x 3.60m (height). After unloading from the low-loader or uncoupling the optional three-axle dolly, the bunker walls, the overbelt magnet and the high and far-reaching discharge belts are hydraulically positioned without tools and the system is fully operational in just over five minutes.
The machine operator is fully supported by the standard multifunctional remote control and setup routines of the intelligent SBM Crush Control System, which also monitors and controls the fully automatic crushing process according to preset parameters. In addition, a web-based app enables remote access to all important operating and production data.
