California commercial real estate investment firm lands in Dallas’ Uptown district

A California-based investment firm, Thorofare Capital Inc., has opened a new office in Dallas. Thorofare Capital is a Los Angeles-based commercial real estate debt manager with offices in New York City and Miami.

The company has raised more than $ 3 billion in funding since its inception in 2010. Thorofare Capital specializes in value-adding and opportunistic acquisitions, recapitalizations and distressed debt transactions.

The company rented a new office in the uptown neighborhood of Dallas on McKinney Ave in 1919.

Jonathan D. Hart has joined the company as Director of Originations in the new Dallas office. Hart previously worked in the Dallas office for Madison Realty Capital, a New York City-based real estate debt and equity investment firm.

“We are excited to welcome Jon and to open our Texas office in Dallas,” said Kevin Miller, CEO of Thorofare, in a statement. “As we continue to scale our platform, recruiting well-rounded investment professionals to meet the needs of our investors and our borrower clients remains key to our mission.”

Thorofare is just the newest investment firm to set up shop in the Dallas area.

The New York Fortress Investment Group opens a large office in the new Weir’s Plaza Tower north of downtown Dallas.

And global investment manager Vanguard recently selected Plano for its fifth US office.

Also, investment giant Goldman Sachs is working on a huge new regional office near downtown Dallas that will eventually house thousands of employees.
